Who is responsible

The Belgian Nuclear Society ASBL/VZW is the data controller for myBNS. Contact: the Secretary, via the e-mail address in the footer.

What we process and why

• Identity and contact data, date of birth, address — to keep the member register required by the Statutes (art. 5), to issue invoices and to determine your fee category (legal obligation and membership contract).
• Professional data (affiliation, specialties, CV, LinkedIn) — only if you provide them, to show you in the member directory and, if you opt in, to corporate members looking for candidates (consent).
• Payment data — card and IBAN data are handled exclusively by our payment provider Stripe; BNS never stores them.
• Mailing-list preferences — to send you only the e-mails you chose (consent), through our self-hosted Mautic server.

What we never do

We never sell, rent or share your data with third parties for their own purposes. Data are used only for the correct functioning of the portal and of the Society.

Your rights (GDPR)

You can at any time access and download your data (Profile → Privacy), correct them, withdraw a consent, restrict processing or ask for erasure. When you leave and ask for restriction, your profile is flagged: it is hidden everywhere and no longer used. Accounting records (invoices) are kept for the legal retention period (7 years, Belgian accounting law). You can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (www.dataprotectionauthority.be).

Security

Passwords are hashed with Argon2id, connections are encrypted (HTTPS), accounts are locked after repeated failed sign-ins, and backups are encrypted.
